Disable Chat and Private Messaging

Turn off chat and private messaging in a live webinar

You can disable chat and private messages at any time before or during a live webinar. This is useful when you want your attendees to completely focus on your presentation.

Step 1: Go to My Webinars.

Step 2: Find the webinar where you want to disable the chat area and private messages, then click Enter Studio to the right.

For live webinars in a series, click Show All, then click the play icon to the right of the individual webinar to enter the studio.

Step 3: In the webinar Studio, under the chat tab, click the ellipsis (...) on the right.

Step 4: Click the blue toggle next to 'Enable chat' to disable the chat. You can always toggle it back to re-enable chat.

To disable private messages, untick the checkbox for 'Allow attendees to send me private messages.' You can re-enable at any time.
