How to Share Your Screen During a Live Course Session
Share screen during live courses to enhance the learning experience by visually guiding attendees through processes, presentations, and discussions. This help article covers how to share your screen using different devices and platforms to ensure a smooth and engaging course session.

Imagine you are conducting a live course on digital marketing, and you need to present real-time data from various online tools. Screen sharing enables you to effectively display these tools and guide attendees through the analysis process.

Compatibility Note:
This feature is supported in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge (version 79+). Safari (version 13+) supports only entire screen sharing. It is currently not supported in mobile browsers, Safari 12 and older on macOS, or non-Chromium versions of Microsoft Edge (versions prior to 79).

To Share Your Screen
Step 1: Go to My Courses to find your upcoming course. Click See All Sessions and then click Go to Session Room to the right of the course title.
Step 2: At any time before or during the broadcast, click the screen share icon on the sidebar. You will be prompted to choose the display you want to share, whether it's your entire screen, a specific application window, or a browser tab.
Step 3: Choose the display you want to share. You can also share computer audio while sharing your screen. Check the box for Share audio then click Share.
This is useful when playing a video on PowerPoint, Keynote, Canva, or any video from your computer when you share your screen.
The host; your audience will see whatever you've chosen to display (your entire screen, a certain window, or a certain browser tab). To exit the fullscreen, click the arrows again.
Step 4: Click Stop Sharing when you’re done.
Sharing an Application Window
1. PowerPoint
You can share PowerPoint slides in slideshow view while using the Share Screen feature. You can do this by following the steps below:
Step 1: Open the PowerPoint slides on your computer.
Step 2: Start your PowerPoint slides in the slideshow view.
Step 3: Press Alt+Tab(Windows) or Command-Tab(Mac) to go back to your browser and open CourseNinja. In My Courses, choose a session and click Go to Session Room.
Step 4: Click Share Screen on the left menu then click the Window tab.
Step 5: Choose the slideshow view of the PowerPoint window, then click Share. You will be redirected to your slides, and you can start presenting.
With this method, you can monitor chat and questions while presenting without attendees seeing. Press Alt+Tab(Windows) or Command-Tab(Mac) to switch to the Studio and back to the slides.
2. Keynote
You can share your Keynote presentation in slideshow view while using the Share Screen feature. You can do this by following the steps below:
Step 1: Open the Keynote presentation on your computer.
Step 2: In your CourseNinja account, choose a course and enter a session room.
Step 3: Click the Share Screen button from the left menu.
Step 4: On the popup, click on the Window tab and choose Keynote, then click the Share button. You will be redirected to Keynote; you can start presenting right away.
With this method, you can monitor chat and questions while presenting without attendees seeing. Press Command-H to hide the Keynote window and see the Studio.
3. Sharing a Chrome Tab
Canva and Google Slides are web-based applications that can be shared from a browser tab while using the Share Screen feature. In this case, we have Google Slides as an example. You can do this by following the steps below:
Step 1: Open your slides in Google Slides on your Chrome browser.
Step 2: In your CourseNinja account, choose a course and enter a session room.
Step 3: Click the Share Screen button, then click the Chrome tab.
Step 4: Choose Google Slides, then click Share. You will be redirected to your shared Chrome tab; you can start presenting right away.
You can also share the audio of the Chrome tab by checking the Share Audio checkbox. This is ideal when you have videos on your slides.
With this method, you can monitor chat and questions while presenting without attendees seeing. You can switch to the Studio and back to the slides at any time.
4. Share your iPhone/iPad screen on Mac
Use QuickTime to see your iOS device from a Mac computer. This is great to use with drawing apps like Notability or GoodNotes for whiteboarding and annotation.
To share your iPhone or iPad screen on your Mac, ensure you have the following:
- An iPhone or iPad running iOS 8 or later.
- A Mac running OS X Yosemite or later.
- A Lightning Cable to connect your iOS device to your Mac.
Step 1: Connect your iOS device to your Mac with a lightning cable.
Step 2: Open the QuickTime app on your Mac. Click File and select New Movie Recording
Step 3: A recording window will appear. Click the down arrow next to the record button and select your iOS device under Camera.
You will then see the screen of your iOS device showing through the QuickTime window.
Step 4: In the studio, click Share Screen on the left menu.
Step 5: Click Application Window, then choose the QuickTime window. Note that there’s no option to share audio from y
our iOS device with this method.
Step 6: The Share Screen stream will initially appear next to your camera stream. Click the expand icon
over the Share Screen stream to make it fullscreen. To exit fullscreen, click the shrink icon in the top right corner.
Step 7: You can now start working on your iOS device; your attendees will see it on their screen.
To stop sharing your screen, click Stop Sharing.
Troubleshooting Screen Sharing on Mac
If you encounter issues with screen sharing on Mac, follow these steps:

Update and Restart:
- Ensure your Mac and browser are up to date. Restart your Mac and browser if necessary.

Adjust Permissions:
- Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab > Screen Recording.
- Click the lock icon to make changes (admin password required), then check the box next to the browser you are using.

Force Quit and Reopen:
- Press Option, Command, and Esc to open the Force Quit window, select your browser, and click "Force Quit."
